The Isle of Purbeck is the perfect location for a short walking holiday. Stunning coastline, beautiful countryside, quaint villages, castles, Purbeck has it all! It is easily accessed, there is excellent public transport, and if you wish you can arrive by air or train at Bournemouth or train at Wareham and be taken to your accommodation. Once there, there is no need for a car. Not only is local transport good, there are pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance and the beautiful walks start right from your doorstep.
We offer bespoke tailored walking holidays for individuals, couples or small groups. Walks can be guided, self guided or a mixture of both. Full information about the walks and maps will be provided. The walks are chosen for their scenery and interest; there is much to appreciate in Purbeck - the natural wonders of the Jurassic Coast and the long and fascinating history. Your guide can tell you about this and more, or you can discover for yourself with the aid of colourful guide books which will be provided and which are produced by our own publishing company, Inspiring Places.
We use luxury 4 star bed and breakfasts; some are in Swanage but it is also possible to stay in the quiet, beautiful village of Kingston or historic Corfe Castle.
A 3 night stay with 2 full days guided walking might involve the following:
Day 1 - A walk along the stunning Purbeck coast, taking in Chapman's Pool, St Aldhelm's Head, the disused coastal quarries at Winspit and Seacombe and the lovely Durlston Country Park. On the way we might call in at the famous Square and Compass in Worth Matravers, enjoy a drink and visit their wonderful little fossil museum.
Day 2 - Starting at Kingston walk to the spectacular cliff at Houns-tout, then along the coast to Kimmeridge. If the army ranges are open (most weekends and school holidays) continue across Gad Cliff to Worbarrow Bay and the deserted village of Tyneham. Then back along the Purbeck ridge to Kingston where the Scott Arms has fabulous views across to Corfe Castle.
Such a holiday, with accommodation and guided walking, with full information packs would cost between £200 and £250 per person, depending on the accommodation and based on four people in double or twin rooms.
